Carer's Leave Bill passes Committee Stage in the House of Lords

We are delighted to report that Wendy Chamberlain MP's Private Member's Bill, which would introduce a landmark new right for employees across Great Britain of up to a week of unpaid Carer’s Leave, has today been successful at Committee Stage in the House of Lords. We are grateful to Lord Fox for taking the Bill through the House of Lords.

Thank you to all who have supported the Bill. This is a fantastic result which could not have happened without cross-party and Government support, as well as the support of over 145 organisations around the country coming together to back this Bill.

Passing the Committee Stage in the House of Lords is another important step forward for the Bill, which passed all stages in the House of Commons earlier this year. Carers UK will continue to update briefings and detail on the Bill as it completes its final stages.
