This video gives you some basic ideas for exercise that you can do as an individual or as a family to help improve your physical and mental wellbeing. As well as tips on how to make simple changes to your daily routine, there are some handy chair based exercises too.


Taking a few minutes out of your day to practise breathing exercises can make are real difference when you find yourself in a stressful situation. This video guides you through a candle meditation and also teaches the 4,4,4 breathing technique. These practices and other suggestions can help you to remember that taking time to relax and calm the mind is so important for your wellbeing.

Record What You Eat

Eating well can help you live well, and this video explains how your metabolism can affect your weight and your wellbeing. There are handy hints for meal planning, food diaries and a great reminder of which food groups we should be eating to stay healthy and well.

Weigh and Measure

If weight loss is one of your goals, this video is a comprehensive guide on how to measure your weight loss and how to keep motivated by setting small realistic targets.

Covid-19 has now had a far reaching impact on our nations mental health. It’s more important than ever that we take positive steps to look after our ourselves, to seek help when we need it, and check-in and support people around us. This revised Guide to looking after yourself and others contains practical information about things you can do now to look after your mental health and wellbeing, on how you can support others, and where to find support if you or others need it.

Every Life Matters Cumbria, has teamed up with North East and North Cumbria Suicide Prevention Network, and CNTW NHS Foundation Trust, to launch three new short animations to support this revised Wellbeing and Mental Health during Covid-19 guide as part of its “look after yourself, look out for others, and get help early” awareness campaign.
